Studio Dress Code
Our studio dress code ensures every dancer is prepared, comfortable, and ready to perform their best. Proper attire not only supports safe movement but also builds discipline and unity within the classroom. Please review the guidelines for each class level to help your dancer shine.
- General Guidelines (All Classes)
Hair pulled away from face and neck; buns required for ballet.
No jewelry (only stud earrings or small rings allowed).
Crop tops or midriff-baring tops are not allowed for dancers under 13.
No satin ballet slippers (too slippery and don’t stay on feet).
Ballet shoe drawstrings must be tucked in.
All recommended apparel is conveniently available in the studio store.
- Creative Dance
Girls: Comfortable clothes to move in (nothing too baggy or distracting), wear hair pulled up. Shoes: Pink (girls) or black (boys) leather or canvas ballet shoes. Ties must be tucked in.
- Pre-Ballet
Girls: Pink tights and any color leotard; ballet skirts allowed (no large tutus). Shoes: pink leather or canvas ballet shoes; hair pulled away from face. Boys: Black fitted jazz pants and fitted t-shirt. Shoes: black leather or canvas ballet shoes. Ties tuck
- Ballet
Girls: Leotard (any color), pink tights; optional skirt or dance shorts (center work only). Shoes: Pink split-sole leather or canvas ballet. Warm-ups/leg warmers allowed during plie. No tutus, t-shirts, tank tops, bras, or street shorts. Hair in neat bun or pulled away from face. Boys: Black fitted jazz pants and solid fitted t-shirt. Shoes: Black split-sole leather or canvas ballet
- Ballet/Jazz Combo
Girls: Pink or tan tights, any color leotard; optional skirt or dance shorts (no tutus). Jazz pants allowed for jazz portion. Shoes: Ballet or jazz shoes (no street shoes). Hair neat bun or short hair pulled away from face. Recital requires tan jazz shoes.
- Jazz, Superhero & Musical Theatre
Jazz pants, leggings, or tights with leotards, tanks, or fitted t-shirts. Shoes: Tan jazz shoes (split-sole preferred).. Boys: Jazz pants/shorts and fitted t-shirt. Shoes: Black Jazz shoes (split-sole preferred). No baggy cl
- Hip Hop
Bottoms: Baggy pants (sweatpants, joggers, parachute pants) or baggy shorts. No tights or leggings. Tops: Tanks or t-shirts (long or short sleeve); no leotards. Shoes: Clean non-marking sneakers, or team hip hop shoes. Hair away from face and neck.
- Modern
Jazz pants, leggings, or tights with leotards, tanks, or fitted t-shirts. Shoes: Barefoot or modern sandals. No baggy clothes.
Hip Hop & Jazz/Hip Hop Combo
Bottoms: Baggy pants (sweatpants, joggers, parachute pants) or baggy shorts. No tights or leggings. Tops: Tanks or t-shirts (long or short sleeve); no leotards. Shoes: Clean non-marking sneakers, or team hip hop shoes. Hair away from face and neck. - Jazz/Hip Hop Combo
Bottoms: Jazz pants, leggings, sweatpants, joggers or shorts. Tops: tanks, tees, or t-shirts (long or short sleeve). Shorts and tanks over tights and leotards are fine. Shoes: Clean, non-marking sneakers, team hip hop shoes, or black jazz shoes. Hair away from face and neck.
- Tap (All Levels)
Fitted clothes allowing movement; no jeans or loose pants covering feet. Beginning Tap, Tap I and Tap II: Black patent leather tap shoes. Tap III+: Black lace-up or boot-style tap shoes. Boys: Black lace-up leather tap shoes. Recital shoes required as above; alternate shoes allowed in class.
- Tumbling
Tight-fitted clothing, no shoes or socks. Footless or stirrup tights preferred (especially post-ballet). Hair pulled away from face and neck. No jewelry.
- Parent & Tot / Adult Classes
Comfortable clothes; no street shoes on dance floors.
